有个老人独自住在爱达荷州，他想翻翻园里的土豆田，但显然这项工作对他来说有点艰难。他唯一的儿子，布巴，过去经常帮他干农活，现在被关到监狱里去了。老人写了一封信给他的儿子，讲述了他遇到的麻烦。

亲爱的布巴：

看来今年我不能在田里种上土豆了，我觉得很难过。我太老了，连田里翻土也翻不动了。如果你在这里，所有的困难都会迎刃而解，你一定会帮我掘好田地。

    过了几天，他收到一封儿子的来信。

亲爱的父亲：

看在上帝的份上，父亲，请你不要掘那块地，那是我埋尸体的地方。

爱你的布巴

    第二天早上四点，FBI的警员和当地的警察出现了，把整块地翻了个底朝天也没发现有尸体，于是他们向老人道了歉离开了。

    同一天，老人收到了儿子的另一封信：

亲爱的父亲：

你可以去种你的土豆了，目前这种情况下，我只能为你做这些了。

An old man lived alone in Idaho. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard work. His only son, Bubba, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament.

Dear Bubba:
I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my potato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the plot for me.

Love, Dad

A few days later, he received a letter from his son.

Dear Dad:
For heaven's sake, Dad, don't dig up that garden. That's where I buried the BODIES.
Love, Bubba

At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local Police showed up and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left.
That same day, the old man received another letter from his son.

Dear Dad:
Go ahead and plant the potatoes now. It's the best I could do under the circumstances.
Love, Bubba
