How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raised children who can help bring about a better society.

    The speaker's contention actually includes two dual claims that I disagree. As far as I am concerned, socialization may be important but is not the most important factors which determine our destiny of society. Moreover, I believe that our society is much better than before and we can get a better society through educating our children.

First, I admit that the extent of socialization is a very important factor to our today's society. Because in this fast-pace society, more and more missions are need to complete with team works.  Only through teamwork, can we finish the job with high efficiency and better outcomes. So it is imperative for us to learn to constructively and peacefully communicate with and negotiate with our colleagues. We also need to have a team spirit which places team goals much higher than individual goals. For example, a volleyball team that wants to win the championship needs the cooperation of the all players which need each player must trust the others in order to build solidarity. The whole team must behave this way. Similarly, behind the success of the film Avatar, there are hard works by hundreds of people. No single person can do such a great film by himself. From these two examples, we can easily see how important the socialization is.

  But I do not think socialization is the most important factor that determines the destiny of the society. First, there are ample evidences that can prove that sometimes person who was not be well socialized also can contribute greatly to society. Edison and Einstein were both unaccustomed to school life and were viewed as weird or paranoid, but their contributions to the world were huge. Second, there are many more important other things to determine our destiny of society. These factors include our value, our courage, our parental influence, our intelligence, and our perseverance. F.D. Roosevelt’s perseverance led America went out of the swamp of The Great Depression.Abraham Lincoln had tremendous courage and adherence to his value which resulted in the abolition of slavery. We can see, beyond socialization, these are many factors that are also very important to the destiny of society.

  The speaker's claims that we do not know how to raise children can help us construct a better society. I think his claim is too negative. Actually, our society has improved a great deal over the past century. For example, we eliminated the racial segregation and address the racial equity which brought colored people the same respect from others. We  protected the women's right and let women enjoy the same social status as men. We are more tolerant toward the homosexuality and some states even signed a law which permitted the same-sex marriage. Insofar as the international cooperation, we also had a lot of improvements. Nowadays there are a lot of international organizations that enable us to face the environmental challenges, food crisis, population problem and other problems together. When tsunami happened in Indonesia or earthquake happened in Haiti, rescue teams from all over the world arrived the disaster areas as soon as possible. All these facts had proved that our society has proved greatly.

   I think we had know the importance of socialization and we have paid more energy to educate our child not only in socialization aspect but also in a lot of other aspects. So I strongly believe that our children can bring us a bright future. Today, our children enjoy much better educational conditions no matter on hardware or software aspects. We paid a lot of attentions not only about children's intellect improvement, but also in emotion aspects. In short, all the efforts to our children can bring us a better society definitely.

  From what has been discussed, we can conclude the speaker is too pessimistic. As far as I am concerned, our better life derives from a better education. And our future society is educate in a better environment. We have put a lot of energies to tell children how to be rational persons and tell them the importance of team work spirit. We have reasons to believe, our children will bring us a more advanced society.
