"In any field of inquiry, the beginner is more likely than the expert to make important discoveries."
As to experts, they have affluent experiences and are more rational. They can make more mature judgments when some mistakes are emerged. And due to the long time at a certain field, they have more background knowledge over beginners. Take Karl Marx as an example, in order to write The Capital, he insisted on learning and researching in library for many years. And finally found the basic law of capitalism. Similarly, Darwin spent 20 years and finally finished the “Origin and the species”. From these two examples we can see that discover is always time-consuming and not accidental. Too many examples can illustrate this point of view. When somes expert won the Nobel Prize, he or she generally has been at the area for many years. And most of the researches need very long-term concentration.
Actually, in today’s ever-changing world, discoveries depend on more groups of people than single person. So new discoveries need the cooperation of the beginners and the experts. It is a best and effective way to find a new thing.
From what has been discussed, we can draw a safe conclusion that beginners and expert both have their advantages,if they have enough innovative abilities, they can both attribute to the important discoveries. Moreover, the most important factor for a discoverer is not the time they have spent in that field. It is about their sensitive to new emerging things, their ability of critical thinking, and their perseverance.
