在这篇博客的开头，我想问大家一个问题：有多少人听说过或参加了2009技术世界大会（ Technology World 2009）？

相信成千上万的人会回答yes：这次由英国贸易投资总署电信行业小组组织的活动于2009年11月23日和24日在考文垂Ricoh Arena会展中心举行，共有800家公司参加，其中200家来自英国外的50个国家。2天时间内共有2000场公司洽谈，签约总金额超过了1000万英镑！技术世界大会是英国最大的科技贸易洽谈会，帮助英国公司建立国际业务的同时，也为海外公司提供与英国公司做生意的平台。今年，在英国政府“新产业，新工作”的倡议支持下，这一活动是去年规模的两倍。

英国贸易投资总署的中英合作创新项目旨在为中英电信公司牵线搭桥，此次作为项目的一部分，我们组织了20家中国公司参会，包括5家香港公司。这在出席的国际代表团中，已经是规模最大的了。其中，较为有名的中国公司包括：广东3G产业发展联盟，中国连同，中兴，中芯国际集成电路公司，文思信息工程公司，联款通等，同时参会的也有小一些的创新公司，包括音宝，成都成电宜兴等。我们邀请这些公司参会因为他们在中国电信市场具有领先地位并对于国际合作十分感兴趣。通过将他们与英国公司连线，我们希望帮助他们在全球价值链中取得先机。

通过举办2009技术世界大会这样的活动，英国贸易投资总署致力于支持英国企业赢得国际业务。我希望所有有这方面意愿的英国公司都能认识到这一点。当然，类似的活动影响范围越广越好，如今已有数以百计的电信公司参与到我们组织的活动当中，如果您也有兴趣，特别是在上海世博会方面，欢迎与我们取得联系。

Bringing Companies Together in this Technology World

I’d like to start this blog by posing a question.  How many people in the UK heard about or attended Technology World 2009?

I believe the answer is that there were thousands that heard of this single event which was organised by UKTI ICT colleagues on the 23^rd and 24^th of November in the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.  800 companies attended.  200 of these companies were foreign, from over 50 countries.  There were 2000 business meetings over 2 days which led to signings leading to recorded trade exceeding £10 million!  Technology World is one of the UK’s largest technology “meet-the-buyer” events, and provides a platform both for UK companies to build their international business, and to help overseas companies meet potential UK companies to secure deals.  This year, with support from the UK Government’s “New Industry, New Jobs” initiative, it was twice the size of the 2008 event.

As part of our Enabling Innovation programme designed to bring together Chinese and British ICT companies, we brought over 20 Chinese companies to the event, including 5 from Hong Kong.  This was one of the largest international delegations.  Among the more well-known Chinese names were Guangdong 3G Industry Alliance, China Unicom, ZTE, SMIC, VanceInfo, Asia Pay, and others, and there were some smaller innovative companies like Inpro and Chengdu Chengdian Yixing.  They were invited due to their leading position in the Chinese market and their commitment to international partnering and collaboration.  By helping them to match their expertise with British companies, we hope to help both to win business in the global value chain.

Here in UKTI we are working hard to support UK businesses international contracts, by running events like Technology World 09.  I hope that all the right companies know about the opportunities we can help to put them in touch with in order to win international business.  Of course, we can always let more people know about these events, and I welcome you to get in touch if you’d like to join the hundreds of ICT companies that already work with us with our events, especially at Shanghai Expo .
