O-WEEK已经过去有一个星期了，到现在也不敢相信自己度过了那么精彩又紧张的一个星期。虽然每天从早忙到凌晨的累到睁不开眼和脚掌做痛，但那却是我最不后悔的一次经历。今年，我们eng的主题就是围绕Game of Throne 设定的。

当然这都不是他们真是的名字，我们soph在o-week所称呼自己的都不是自己的名字。之所以如此，不仅是好玩，frosh容易记住我们的名字，而且也容易拉近我们之间的距离。每一个soph名字的背后也都有一个相对应的故事。

作为ENG, 把自己染成紫色是一个传统。加拿大的工程学院新生入学却是别具一格，先要洗上一次紫水澡，当然这是自愿的，并不强迫学生必须这样做。为何工程学院的学生要洗紫水澡，这其实既是一个传统，也是一种职业精神的教育形式。

看过“铁达尼号”（也有翻译成“冰海沉船”、“泰坦尼克”）电影的朋友有很多，里面描写两个年轻人爱情故事非常美，该片的主题曲唱得也是催人泪下。当时在船上穿着紫色外衣的轮机工程师在游轮下沉时没有为了自己活命而弃船跳海，而是依旧在轮机舱想尽一切办法减缓游轮的下沉，以使更多乘客有机会能逃生。这就是工程师的精神和品格，所以在教育上，培养的工程师不仅是要业务上出类拔萃，更关键时要有人品，有人的精神风貌。

如果从英国文化的角度说， 紫色是英国军队工程师的标志性颜色。所以工程学院也推崇紫色。工程学院学生在新学期开学的新生培训周会有将自己身体染成紫色的活动。当然学生不必全身上下染透透，哪怕是染个手也行。紫色染料采用医用的龙胆紫，这种染料比较难洗掉，一般会在人体上保留几天，所以只要在校园内看到紫色人，那基本上就是工程学院的学生。
