1.To enable the students to know some animals and plants under the water
(e.g. seal、octopus、coral、shark、dolphin、whale、starfish、 sea horse、prawn、crab、turtle、lionfish etc.)
2.Asking‘where’、‘what’and‘why’ questions to find out various kinds of specific information.
Skill and ability target 技能目标
1.To develop students’ listening and speaking skills by involving them in different activities.
2.To let students know some information about sea world under the water.
Moral target 情感目标
1.To foster the students’co-operative spirit.
2.To build the students’ responsibility of not polluting sea water and rain water and let them be kind to all the ocean lives.

1.Show some pictures of the
river/stream/lake/sea/ocean. (PPT).
2.Ask some questions about water on the earth: e.g. Where is water?
3.Show a picture of the earth. Ask: How much water do we have on the earth?
Ss practise: Almost ____ of the Earth is land. Almost _____ of the Earth is water.
4.Learn new words by watching and listening to the teacher. (PPT)
Purpose
1.Introduce and teach the word‘quarter’(a quarter/three quarters).
2.Improve students’listening and speaking abilities.
3.Learn as many new words as possible about sea animals and plants.
Step 3 While-task
Contents
1.Listen and read the text. Try to get the main idea of the text.
2.Introduce three kinds of main sea animals: whales, dolphins and sharks.
3.Read the last paragraph again with questions in their mind.
4.Develop the students' knowledge and skill.
Method
1.Read the text after the teacher paragraph by paragraph.
2.Explain some difficulty points of the text.
3.Make sure the students understand the meaning of the text.(discussion)
4.Group discussion: Which sea animal would you like to be? Why?

【环节一】
Lead-in
Ask the students to watch an HDTV about sea animals. Let them watch it and listen to it carefully. Try to remember the names of the sea animals and plants in the video.
T: Today we’ll learn Unit 9 ‘Sea water and rain water’. This class we’ll mainly talk about the oceans. Just now you watched a video about the sea world. What sea animals and plants did you see?
S1: Whale.
S2: Dolphin.
S3: Shark.
S4: Star fish.
S5: Sea horse.

Ss: In the sea.
T: Right.They live in the sea. They like sea water. They can’t live if there is no water. In what other places can you sea water? Begin the new lesson with the question ‘Where is water?’(PPT)
【反思】
不足之处是:片子略微有点长,由于时间问题画面连接有点唐突,不够流畅。

不足之处:学生齐读不利于检查每一个学生的发音掌握情况(特别是学困生),应注意方法。

Teach words with the help of PPT and flash.
Teach words with key sentences from the text.
这个单词的音了;然后又出现了一条张开血盆大口的动画大鲨鱼,看到这个画面再加上老师的肢体语言,学生就很自然的猜到了出现在鲨鱼下方的dangerous 这个单词的意思了,旁边的音标词让学生准确发出了读音。实践证明,这样的教单词方法效果很好,学生容易记住,也让学生学会根据情境如何猜测单词的意思,促进了学生思维的发展。再如接下来如何巩固掌握shark和dangerous这两个单词,又能起到为学习课文作好铺垫?我是这样设计的:在同一张PPT打上‘Sharks are one of the most dangerous animals.’这个句子,让学生看图和句子跟读,接下去的whale 、 starfish 、 sea horse 、 prawn 、 crab等也采用相同的方法,真正做到“词不离句”,为以后培养学生“句不离篇”的学习能力打下基础。
