  Last week I went to the theatre to see a play. The play was very interesting, but I didn’t enjoy it. Because a baby and a woman were sitting behind me. The baby was crying loudly and I couldn’t hear a word！I turned round and looked at them. But they didn’t pay any attention. At last, I couldn’t bear. I turned round again and tried to tell them politely, “I can’t hear the actors. Could you please let your baby sleep？” “It’s none of our business.” She said.

 

 

Lesson 2. “Do you find it easy / difficult to get up？Why？”

  I find it difficult to get up on weekday. But I find it easy to get up at weekends and on holidays. Because on holidays and weekends, I can have a big sleep, so I can find it easy to get up. On weekday, I must get up at 6：30, so I can’t find it easy to get up. I always feel very tired. When my mother called, ‘Get up, get up！’ I said, ‘Five minutes more！Five minutes more！’ The quilt is so soft. The pillow is warm and warm.

  Getting sick is the worst thing for a person who is traveling. Last month, I went to Hong Kong. I went to the Disney Land and many interesting places. But I got sick on the third day. So I stayed in the hotel all day and took some medicine. On the last day, I got on the plane. When I went back to Shanghai, I went to the hospital at once.   I would like to visit France. France is a very beautiful and busy country. There are lots of cars. In Paris, there are many interesting things. The Louvre is very famous. There are hundreds of paintings. The world’s most famous painting—Mona Lisa is in the Louvre. Many people come again. And the Eiffel Tower is beautiful, too. It is 320 meters. My father went to Paris last year. He said, “Paris is very beautiful. I want to go there again.”

  In the world, many people send messages to each other. But do you know how they send messages? I can tell you a lot of ways. In many countries, people make telephone calls to send messages. In ancient China, people can send messages to each other with flying pigeons. But today, people in most of the countries use the Internet to send messages. Today we can use the Internet to send messages whenever we want. With the development of science and technology, we can send messages in many ways.

We should shut our windows and close the door. And then we can reduce the loss. These are my ways, and you？

  I have seen the most beautiful park near my school. Because the park is big and clean. There is an interesting party in the park once a month. Last month I went to the park. A party was held on that day and the park was crowded. Many old people were playing chess under the tree or dancing. Most of the young people were boating and having a picnic. Children were flying kites in the sky. Some pets were chasing on the grass. And there was a flower show, too. I was taking photos. We were having a good time.

  Last New Year, I had delicious food and was dressed in new clothes. I thought that was a fine day. In the morning, I visited my grandparents and relatives. They gave me some money in red envelopes. At noon, my family had a big lunch in the restaurant. Then my belly was full and full. At night, I felt excited. Because I would watch the colourful fireworks. They were green, yellow, red and so on. Suddenly, my parents gave me a red envelop. I said, “Mum and dad, thank you so much, Happy New Year！” At that time, we got very happy.

 

 

Lesson 10. “Have you ever damaged anything old？How was it repaired？”

  I sometimes damaged anything old. Last year, I damaged an old vase. It was bought by my grandfather. It was made in France. It was so expensive and delicate. My family liked it very much. But one day, I was very careless. I broke that vase. I was very sad. I cried for a long time. My grandfather got so angry that he didn’t talk to me for a week. I was very upset. I said a lot of “sorry”, but the vase can’t be repaired. My grandfather educated me that I should not be careless in the future. I nodded my head very hard.

 

 

Lesson 11.“Do you think it’s a good idea to lend money to your friends？Why /why not？”

  I don’t think it’s a good idea to lend money to your friends. Because some friends don’t pay it back. Maybe they can’t remember the money you lent them. Maybe they don’t want to pay it back at all. If you lend some money to your friends, you must tell them to pay the money back in time. That’s tiring. So I don’t think it’s a good idea to lend money to your friends.

 

 

Lesson 12.“What do you think is the best way to cross the Atlantic？”

  I think the best way to cross the Atlantic Ocean is taking a boat. Because In the Atlantic Ocean, it is full of water. Boats can help you. It isn’t the quickest way to go across the Atlantic Ocean, but it’s much safer than taking a plane. Besides, you can do a lot of things on the boat, such as fishing, listening to music and some other activities.

As you can see, crossing by boat is the best way.

 

 

 

Lesson 13. “What do you think you’ll be doing this time next year？”

  I think I will be reading a book or writing something this time next year. Because next year I think I will have more homework than this year and I will be getting a lot of new knowledge. So I must read more and write more. But I don’t want to do these things all the time. I want to play badminton or swim in my spare time. And I will be riding a bicycle, flying a kite, running and so on.

 

 

Lesson 14. “Have you ever tried to talk to someone who didn’t know your language？What happened？”

  Last month when I was waiting at the bus stop, I saw that a Frenchman stood beside

me. He asked me in French, “How do I get to the ‘Star cinema’？” I didn’t know any French. So I took out a phrasebook. And I answered him slowly in French, “Do you speak Chinese？” After that, we kept silent for about five minutes. He didn’t answer any words. It meant he didn’t know any Chinese. What an embarrassing time！

  Sometimes I feel very nervous, such as a difficult test. Last week, our class had a difficult test. The test paper was difficult so that I spent minutes thinking about it. I thought and thought, but I had nothing to answer. At that time, I got very nervous. It was like an ant on a hot brick. At last, I wrote an answer on the test paper casually. I thought of it the whole day. The next day, I looked at it. To my surprise, it was the correct answer. I got very happy at that time.

  If my father parks his car in the wrong place, a traffic policeman will soon find it. If my father is lucky, the traffic policeman will let him go without a ticket. But it doesn’t always happen. I walked along the streets. But I couldn’t find it. I thought, “Maybe someone stole it.” I was upset and decided to go home. To my surprise, I saw a girl with a 20-yuan bill in her hand. I walked to her, and she asked me if the money was mine. I said “yes” and thanked her. Then, I bought the book and went home happily.

 

 

 

Lesson 19. “Is it always easy to get seats for the theatre？For what kind of performances is it safer to book your tickets in advance？”

  It isn’t always easy to get seats for the theatre. I think it is safer to book the performances of musical. Musicals are always on for a long time. So audience can get the tickets easily. Besides, the actors and actresses always need some time to practise performing before they appear on the stage. This provides a good chance to book tickets before the performance.

  In my opinion, if we want to book tickets for a performance, we can phone the ticket office to book tickets. We should go to the theatre to book them before the performance. If don’t, we will miss the performance.

 

 

 

Lesson 20. “What is your favourite pastime？”

  Reading is my favourite pastime. Maybe you like playing chess or watching TV. But I like reading in my free time. Sometimes I read story books. I usually read story books. I usually read story books instead of watching cartoons. Because they are more interesting. I like ‘If you give me three days light’ best. I read books whenever I can. I enjoy reading in my free time. I always read books without making notes. Because it’s just a kind of pastime. I often read before sleeping. I’d like to stay at home and just read for fun. If you live alone, you might feel scared. And the airport is far from downtown. Few people live there. If your friend writes to you, the letter must be received in 5 or 6 days. It’s not convenient. And a school won’t be built near an airport. If I live near an airport for a long time, my computer will crash. My TV will be broken, too. And I will go crazy.

  I would rather live in a modern house. Because modern houses are very big and there are many fashionable things. Around the modern house, there are many fashionable items and lots of new items. And also you can breathe fresh air if your house is in the country. If you live in a modern house, you will feel very comfortable. I used to live in a modern house. Deep in my heart, I can feel the beauty of the country life. So I’d love to live in a modern house.

 

 

 

Lesson 24. “When you travel, how do you look after your money？”

  When I travel, I always put my money in a notecase. I put my notecase in my handbag. The handbag has a zip. I always zip up the handbag. I take it with me. When I’m on the bus, I hold it with two hands. Then, I can see it. It’s safe. I look after my money well. So I never lose my money.
