英国浪漫主义诗人Robert Burns（彭斯）虽然仅仅活了37岁，但是却写了20年以上的诗歌，这首诗作于1790年，Burns31岁的时候，应该说这个时候是Burns在诗歌创作上比较成熟的时期，My Heart’s in the Highlands这首诗就是这个时期的代表作之一，也广为流传。诗歌以饱满的热情歌颂了苏格兰地区的大好河山，表达了对于祖国、故土的深深的眷恋和热爱之情。正因为寄托了这样一种几乎是全人类所共有的感情，又用这么优美和婉转悠扬的方式来表达，自然在全世界特别是英语系国家里的广泛流产。而我，对这首诗有不同的解读，读这首诗时喜欢断章取义，最喜欢前面两句。

  如果说Burns在全世界流传最广的一首诗，那么必定要数这首Auld Lang Syne《往昔的时光》，它作为一首歌在全世界范围内传颂，它同样随着《魂断蓝桥》这部电影的风靡而在全世界范围内传颂，作为比爱情更为广泛的一种感情，友谊在全世界的每一个角落里在被反复歌颂着，在毕业典礼上，在老朋友的聚会上，在离别之时，一遍又一遍地被吟诵，Auld Lang Syne已经变成了友谊的代名词，大家都同样在歌颂友谊地久天长。
