如何区分adapt和adjust

从朗文当代高级英语辞典来看，它们两个词的中英文解释及例句：

Adapt：to gradually change your behaviour and attitudes so that you get used to a new situation and can deal with it successfully.（使）适应…(使)适合…

如：The children are finding it hard to adapt to their new school.孩子们发现很难适应新学校。

Adjust: to make small changes to something , especially to its position , in order to improve it, make it more effectived,tec.调整， 调节

如：Check and adjust your brakes regularly.定期检查和调节刹车装置。

从上面的解释及例句可以看出，adapt强调“适应” 而adjust强调 “调整”。

另外从词的拼写上注意区分如下几个词：adapt、adept、adjust、adopt。
