Macau has a history of 500 years; why is there no crematorium belonging to Macau so far?
The proverb "Nascentes morimur, finisque ab origine pendet" (Latin, English meaning that birth is the beginning of death) circulated among the European medieval folk. This echoes the three-stage theory of Buddhism (the three stages are the past life, the present life, and the next life). Buddhism says "reincarnation," and "reincarnation" means that the spirit is in between the cycle of "life" and "death ."
When a person dies, handling the dead body is subject to the local religion, social customs, and government control policies. Taking Tibet as an example, the funeral process deals with the dead bodies according to the status of the deceased during their lifetime. They are divided into four categories:
1) Sea burial: People from the lowest class of society or outsiders died in their own country.
2) Ground or Sky burial: middle-class people who own houses and jobs.
3) Cremation: only for nobles or officials.
At present, the common funeral ceremonies of ethnic groups around the world include Cremation, Ground burial, Burial at sea, Depósito cinzas Junto de árvores, depósito de cinzas no Jardim, etc. Among them, the people of Macau generally accept Ground burial and Cremation, as for Burial at sea, and sprinkle ashes Funerals at sea are relatively rare. There is no graveyard or cinerary casket for Burial at sea, so it is not popular with Macau people.
Is Macao ready to build a local crematorium? Indeed, there is no crematorium in Macau. However, Cemitério Municipal de Coloane Municipal de Coloane has bone cremation equipment. By upgrading and optimizing the equipment, we will have many achievements. From the perspective of Feng Shui, Macau is fully qualified to build a permanent crematorium belonging to local people. The government should work for the public interest by facilitating cross-departmental communication to create a local crematorium. Understandably, Crematorium is an undesirable facility for the residents nearby. We should be open to listening to public opinions, especially residents in close proximity, and address their concerns. Seeking truth from facts is the long-term solution
