some people say that its better to teach language students
in small classes, others think the number of people does not
matter. discuss and give your own opinion
Noways, there is an emerging argument that whether small scale
language classes could bring more benefits to the student. Some
instructors claim that classes with smaller number of students
would provide students with more practicing opportunities, other
educators argue that the significance of acquiring new language has
nothing related to the number of attendants.
Obviously, a large number of advantages could reaped by the
student in the classroom with limited students.First of all, it is
vital to have physical practice during the speaking and writing
section, instructors would be able to allocate more resources and
time for each student. This would ensure the results of language
learning more efficiently and effectivey. What is more, more spance
and time availabe would grant the instructor to get invloved into
each student’s learning process more frequently. By speciallized
designed learning plan and sophiticated and comprehensive learning
process detectiving method applied by the language instructor,
students would have more professional leanrning strategy in every
signle class, which would guarantee success in a more reliable way
in the long run. Take English learning as an example, some
institutions offer small classes, even control the audience number
under 4. According to the survery conducted by the the institution
itself, the aveargae speaking and writing score is 13% more than
the normal medium and large classes. One of the major factor is the
precious assignment particularly provided by the instructors.
Some educators hold opposite ideas towards this arguement.
They indicate that it is self-motivation matters in the whole
language study, not the outside environment,including the numnber
of fellows in the classroom. Furthermore, they argue that it is
more suitable for freshmen to start in large class when they just
step into the second language class. Getting involved with large
number of people would make it possible to ask for help when
starters have diffulity in understanding at first place, thus this
friendly atmosphere could relieve the stress during the whole
learning period. Last but not least, mutual conversation and role
play could still be applied in big class whent the students are
divided into small groups. And more ideas would appear and
exchanged in the presentation, which is one of the contributing
factor to faster and reliable language learning.
In conlcusion , it is not easy to acquire a new language skill
in a standard way without considering individuals’ taste and
condition. Personally, i perfer small class than the big ones when
i choose the language class due to the unique and personalized
learning plan.
