Modern Family 第五季落下帷幕。与前几季相比，略显疲态，不过依然精彩。作为Family comedy，戏剧冲突有限，通常只有订婚、结婚、生子，再不就是子女成长中的重要进程，如升学、恋爱等（外遇、情感危机啥的就见不着啦！）。编剧发挥空间本身已比较小，又加上剧集本身的设定，可做文章的地方更少。因此，为使剧集有较高的观赏性，编剧们想了其他办法，而双关（pun intended）就是其中频繁出现的手法之一。

下面摘取本季两个精彩的双关片段，以飨爱剧人。

Episode 1

Many 要回哥伦比亚探亲，出生证明（birth certificate）弄丢了，需要到市政厅办理。Jay 带着Manny 到市政厅，正赶上排队登记结婚的gay们（这天California宣布同性结婚合法了，队伍中没见着lesbian！）。排队等待中，Jay和Manny有如下对话：

Manny：Jay，I am scared. I am not sure I want to go through with this.

Jay: We didn’t drive all the way down here to get that piece of paper for you to get cold feet at the last second. And what happened, anyway? You’ve been looking forward to this day for months.

Manny：I know, but maybe we should wait until next year. I am still kind of young to be doing this.

Jay: We are not waiting, I already paid for you, and your mother singed off, this is happening.

Episode 23&24

Can和Mitch，他们梦寐以求的婚礼终于到来。场地危机一个接一个，最后他们在高尔夫球场结为连理，场面很美。本集中，Luke和Manny成为调戏的对象，不少片段，他们的对话都成了lover之间的talk，恰似Can和Mitch。

Scene One，主婚人送医院生孩子去了，Phil顶上。在一段主婚rehearsal中，”marry”了Manny和Luke。

Luke： hey，so you are like, the minister?

Phil:  kind of, when they last sal, the situation is no-brainer, which made them think of me.

Manny:  Isn’t there a lot you have to remember to marry people.

Phil:  Not really, they all fallow the same basic pattern. We are gather here today to join those two in holy matrimony. Do you take him to be your lawfully wedded spouse? And the first person says

Luck:  I do?

Phil:  Right. Then I ask the second person, Do you take him to be your lawfully wedded spouse, you know the drill, right?

Manny: I do. (answer the question, ” you know the drill, right?”, not the take question.)

Phil:  Then I say by the power vested in me by the state of California, I now pronounce you legally wed, bingo, you are married.

Luck:  Awesome.

Alex:  Really awesome. (holding a camera phone, taking video )

Scene two, 在汽车上，luck和Manny的对话。

Manny: Excuse me, I am talking to you ,

Luck:  they look good on you in the store, but now you are not sure.

Manny: That was the topic ten minutes ago. Well, maybe I stapled the sport page to my head, you’d pay attention.

Luck:  As long as it cover your mouth

Manny: What?

Luck:  Nothing.
