义乌双林寺位于义乌佛堂镇云黄山上，佛堂镇东塔山方向2公里左右。该寺建于南梁普通元年（公元520年），由达摩勘基、梁武帝敕建，高僧傅大士开创。历经15个世纪，以规模宏大，高僧辈出而名扬中外。北宋时有僧舍1200余间，僧尼2000余人，被誉为“震旦国中，庄严第一”，又有“天下第三，江浙第一”的美称。宋英宗治平3年御赐“宝林禅寺”匾额，徽宗大观2年赐田十顷。南宋时推为天下禅院十刹之一。

可是，由于历史的原因，一千多年来，双林寺屡毁屡建。1958年，民公社大修水利，双林寺被彻底拆毁，一代禅林被沉到了双林水库的水底.

1986年民间在碧波荡漾的双林水库旁重建了一座双林寺庙外，1994年6月，市人民政府决定修复双林寺，开发风景旅游区。1997年，一座比杭州灵隐寺还高1.6米的双林寺大雄宝殿已屹立在云黄山麓。

   来佛堂过很多次，也知道佛堂双林寺的名气，一直也没有机会去看过，这周末天气很热骑上单车，早上6点出发到了佛堂，后来想想就决定去到双林寺看下，从乡镇公路转到去双林寺的乡间水泥路就会感觉到一阵大路上没有的凉意，路两边两排树木遮住阳光，让人感觉也不是那么热了 ，上路没多久就会看到几座宏伟的庙宇建筑林立在山脚下，几排民居若隐若现点缀其中，更显得庙宇的高大。

到了寺庙才知道双林寺前面一座住的是尼姑，里边一座住的是僧人，我们一起先来看前一座尼姑双林寺.
