俚语对话
Ms. Oley: Do you know if Bill has gotten around to starting on the Davison project yet?
Mr. Perkins: I’m not sure. I think he’s still up to his ears in work on the computer program.
Do you want me to get after him?
Ms. Oley: Maybe you should. On the other hand, perhaps I’ll have Dave take some of the routine work off his hands.
Mr. Perkins: That would be a good idea. Then Bill will be free to get going on the Davison thing.
俚语学习
1. Get around to: to do something after putting it off着手,进行
例如:
I have been meaning to call him but I never get around to it.
我一直想给他打电话,但都没打成。
2. Up to one’s ears: immersed in 埋头于,专心于
例如:
She had been up to her ears doing laundry all day long.

3. Get after someone: scold, criticize催促,唠叨

例如:
After she bought the furniture, she decided it wasn’t suitable, so I took it off her hands for a good price.

5. Get going: start, go into action出发,着手
例如:
You had better get going or you will be late for school!
你最好快一点,不然上学要迟到了。
