小女的球队昨日打了今年的第五场18洞比赛—“ Skyland Conference Tournament” 。去年的比赛在郡里的一个公共球场举行，小女以总杆67杆的成绩赢得了冠军。今年的球场换到了小女两年前是会员的主场，小女特别的高兴，为了打去年USGA的女子业余公共林克斯锦标赛，去年起我们放弃了这主场会员的延续，小女也就再没回去过，去见“老朋友们”是她更为热衷的事，开始我们还担心她会分心，感谢神的恩典，下场后她就专心打球了（当然少不了和HK聊天），打出了低于标准3杆的成绩，69杆是昨日比赛（含男孩）中最好的成绩，成功地卫冕了冠军的头衔。

象以往一样我们当地的报社记者在颁奖后采访了小女，报道登在今天的报纸上，摘录如下，

At this point in Alice Chen’s storied golf career, it’s almost shocking when the Montgomery High School star doesn’t take home the top prize.

Chen shot a three-under 69 at Royce Brook in the Skyland Conference Tournament on Wednesday, giving the junior her second straight conference title. With only a single bogey on the scorecard, Chen had four birdies and hit a whopping 15 greens in regulation. It was a nice homecoming of sorts for her, as she was previously a member at Royce Brook.

“I haven’t played here in a really, really long time,” Chen said. “It just feels great to be back, especially with the atmosphere here and the people I used to be around all the time.”

Chen, the only golfer out of the girls and boys to break 70 on the afternoon, said the secret to her play was consistency. Being consistent for years at a time — not simply over the course of a couple rounds — is what makes Chen so dangerous to repeat as champion.

“It feels great (to win the Skyland), especially to do it back-to-back years,” she said. “In counties, I won three-in-a-row, so that was great, too. It just feels good to always defend your title.”
