你的孩子，不是你的孩子

儿童节马上到了，分享一首诗给大家，来自黎巴嫩诗人纪伯伦的《On Children》（致孩子）。

 孩子经由父母来到世上，从他们降生前我们就开始期许，孩子是我们的孩子，可也不是我们的孩子，因为他们有独立的灵魂，和我们无法触及的未来。

卡里·纪伯伦（Kahlil Gibran ）1883年出生在黎巴嫩北部山乡卜舍里，1931年逝世。纪伯伦是黎巴嫩阿拉伯诗人、作家、画家，被称为“艺术天才”、“黎巴嫩文坛骄子”，是阿拉伯现代小说、艺术和散文的主要奠基人，20世纪阿拉伯新文学道路的开拓者之一。其主要作品蕴含了丰富的社会性和东方精神，不以情节为重，旨在抒发丰富的情感。代表作品有《我的心灵告诫我》，《先知》，《论友谊》 。

              On Children

                    致孩子  

                   黎巴嫩诗人  纪伯伦

一个怀中抱着孩子的妇人说：

和我们说说孩子吧。

纪伯伦回答道：

Your children are not your children.

你的孩子，并不是你的孩子。

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

他们是生命对于自身渴望而诞生的孩子。

They come through you 

他们借助你来到这个世界，

but not from you,

却并非因你而来，

And though they are with you, 

他们陪伴你，

yet they belong not to you.

却并不属于你。

You may give them your love 

你可以给予他们爱，

but not your thoughts,

却不能给予他们思想，

For they have their own thoughts.

因为他们有自己的思想。

You may house their bodies 

你可以庇护他们的身体，

but not their souls,

却不能庇护他们的灵魂，

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, 

因为他们的灵魂属于明天，

which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

属于你在梦境中也无法达到的明天。

You may strive to be like them,

你可以拼尽全力，变得像他们一样，

but seek not to make them like you,

却不要让他们变得和你一样，

For life goes not backward 

因为生命不会倒退，

nor tarries with yesterday.

也不可能在过去停留。

   You are the bows

   你是弓，

   from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

   你的孩子是弦上即将发出的生命箭矢。

   The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,

   弓箭手遥望未来之路上的箭靶，

   and he bends you with his might 

   用尽力气将你拉开，

   that his arrows may go swift and far.

   使箭射得又快又远。

   Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness,

   你们怀着愉悦的心情，在弓箭手的手中弯曲吧，

   For even as he loves the arrow that flies, 

   因为他爱一路飞翔的箭，

   so he loves also the bow that is stable.

   也爱无比稳定的弓。
