Do you agree or disagree: the rules that the whole societies
today expect
Not too strict but necessarily/duly strict to the young
1 fierce and intense competition requires young people to
strictly follow the social rules and improve
themselves
2 nature of young people: rash, inconsiderate, lack of self-policing , need to restrict or confine them: driving license, drinking and smoking, taking drugs, surfing in the net café, gambling 排比
There exists one notion that the rules that the whole societies today expect young people to follow and obey are too strict for the reason that young people should not bear such responsibilities or rules because of heavy pressure in the present society. However, another view is more reasonable and objective for me—the rules today are necessarily strict instead of being too strict for young people because fierce and intense competition requires young people to strictly follow the social rules and improve themselves, and also the nature of young people determines the properly strict rules from the society.
First of all, fierce and intense competition requires young people to strictly follow the social rules and improve themselves. Under such social rules, visible or invisible, young people are driven to better themselves all the way. Just look at the case about my father’s friend’s son, who is 31 years old. He went to one of the top ten universities in my country when he was only 17, majoring in physics. Four years later, after he graduated, he failed to find a job to support himself because higher diploma was required. So he had to strive to become a master, and then a doctor with another six years. Unfortunately, when he gained the degree of Ph.D., he still could not find a job because only one major is far from enough. So he had to take other courses like computer science, human resources and French. At last, he hunted a job in a French-owned company with satisfactory salary. Therefore, strict social rules teach young people the saying that “it is never too old to learn.”
