Welcoming the 26th Universiade

  Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I’m glad to be here speaking to you all about what we can do to welcome the 26th Universiade.

  The 26th big games is going to be held this summer in our Shenzhen from August 12th to 22^nd. It will be the brilliant moment of our city, and as members of our city, we should ask ourselves, “What can we do to welcome the Universiade? “

  As senior high school students, our behaviors and manners affect our great nation’s image. Therefore, the first thing we should do is develop a good sense of character. A simple word and kind expression such as ”thank you”, “sorry”, ”hello”, or ”goodbye” can reflect the basic quality of a good citizen. These small details decide success or failure. Can you not leave any waste paper after leaving the sports area? Can you not throw litter on the pavement when no one sees you? Can you not rush to get seats when you take the bus? Can you not scribble when you are visiting a place of interest? Can you be the one who offers help to others in trouble? Yes! You can! We can!

  The second thing we should do is spread China’s magnificent culture. We should understand the spirit of the Universiade and know more about our nation's history and the history of our city. If you don’t understand it, how can you have a deep love for it?

  And we should learn English well. Language is of the utmost importance. It is the basic tool we use to communicate with foreign visitors. We also need to learn more information about our motherland and other countries. This will help us to have harmonious talks with our foreign guests and show that our country is friendly with passion.

It is well known, the spirit of the Olympics is “Faster, Higher, and Stronger”, of a person, of a country, of the world. As a single spark under the shining light, we should test our physical qualities, strengthen the physical training, and use the spirit of hard struggle to light the Universiade flame.

  If we do these things, when we put down our books, and open our minds to hold and feel the green grass, the blue sky, and the clear water, we can really appreciate the true connotation of “Start here.” Let’s participate and support the Universiade. To transmit the strength of our civilization and step up to be a ready Shenzhen, we must make a contribution to the Universiade by sharing it, advancing with it, and lighting it with our enthusiasm. Let’s start here.
