Heat

Hot, as in a pot, steaming sweat
Though as for that the plough produced
No more some ages ago in the field
Where the hoe was the only insider
Of a suffering soul

Hot, as a summer dog, panting puffs
Longing that the time flies fast
To turn to another season when
Air is the soothing supple child
Held in the arms of the year
 
Hot, facing the approaching wintry frost
And the frozen wilderness
To come at the end of the road
Where no fork in there to be found
But the chilly moon above
