金克木（1912～2000），字止默，笔名辛竹，安徽寿县人，生于江西。中国现当代著名诗人、学者、翻译家，张中行、邓广铭一起被称为“未名四老”。1930年后北京到求学，曾在北京大学图书馆任职员，同时还掌握了英语、法语、德语、世界语等多种语言。1941年金克木经缅甸到印度。1946年金克木回国，应聘任武汉大学哲学系教授，1948年后任北京大学东语系教授。2000年8月5日，因病在北京逝世，临终遗言：“我是哭着来，笑着走。”
