责怪别人来消除问题，常常被叫做找替罪羊。

scape-goating，找替罪羊。scapegoat，替罪羊。加名词后缀ing。goat，羊。scape，花茎。scape还有一个意思：逃脱。是escape的异体字。现在好记多了：自己逃脱而找的羊，就是替罪羊。

22. The chief foods eaten in any country depend largely on what grows best in its climate and soil.
任何国家的主要食品很大程度上取决于其气候和土壤最适合生长什么。

climate，气候。跟crime（犯罪）一起记。联想：犯罪气候。

23. Over a very large number of trials, the probability of an event’s occurring is equal to the probability that it will not occur.
在经过非常大量的试验之后，一个事件出现的概率和它不会出现的概率是相等的。

probability，可能性，概率。probably，很可能，是副词。去掉ly，加ility，ility是名词后缀，表示性质、状态等。ili=一点点。ty=的。可记：一点点的名词性质。

24. Most substances contract when they freeze so that the density of a substance’s solid is higher than the density of its liquid.
大多数的物质在它们冻结时会收缩，以致一种物质的密度，固体的比液体的大。

contract，缩小，收缩。订契约，合同。串联记忆：合同收缩。

25. The mechanism by which brain cells store memories is not clearly understood.
脑细胞贮存记忆的机制，尚不清楚。

mechanism，机械装置，机制，技巧，办法。machine，机器，机械装置。这两个词应该是同源词。ism，名词后缀，表示特性、主义等。
