Spring, the sweet spring, is the year’s pleasant king，

Then blooms each thing, then maids dance in a ring,

Cold doth¹ not sting, the pretty birds do sing,

Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo²!

The palm and may make country houses gay,

Lambs frisk and play, the shepherds pipe all day,

And we h jug-jug ear aye³ birds tune this merry lay,

Cuckoo, , pu-we, to-witta-woo!

The fields breathe sweet, the daisies kiss our feet,

Young lovers meet, old wives a-sunning sit⁴,

In every street these tunes our ears do greet,

Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!

春，甘美之春，一年中快乐的国王，

寒冷不再刺骨，万物吐露芬芳，

少女翩翩环舞，鸟儿尽情歌唱，

啁啁，啾啾，扑-喂，嘟-喂哒-喔！

棕榈树呀山楂花，装点农舍喜洋洋，

羊羔儿嬉戏，笛声儿飘荡，

百鸟儿和鸣，一派声韵悠扬，

啁啁，啾啾，扑-喂，嘟-喂哒-喔！

大地散发着幽香，雏菊亲吻着脚掌，

情侣作对儿成双，老妪团坐晒太阳，

条条街道，都有这悦耳曲调在回荡，
