东北塘镇位于无锡市主城区东北，与惠山区、崇安区、北塘区及国家级开发区——锡山经济开发区交界。沪宁、锡澄高速公路在境内交汇，新312国道、北环路、锡沙公路纵横贯通，京杭大运河支流和锡北运河贯穿全镇，交通条件便利，区位优势明显。原属蓉阳村划归锡山经济开发区托管后，现全镇总面积18.5平方公里，下辖裕巷、农坝、大马巷、锦阳、梓旺、正阳等6个行政村和严埭社区、锡通社区、东北塘居委等3个社区居委会，户籍人口约2.4万余人，暂住人口约2.1万余人。东北塘镇人民政府设在东政路8号。
