在北京的签证官常常注意到一个问题，　那就是申请人对于“简历”这个词不太明白。有的时候申请人会被要求提供英语的简历。　但是当要简历的时候，申请人却不懂resume的意思。　

一个原因就是，有两个不同的方式表述个人简历。　一个是résumé，这词来自法语，源于总结的意思。个人简历的第二个表述是C.V.　它来自curriculum vitae拉丁的缩写，意思是一个人的生活经历。　

那么第二个问题就是有很多中国人不知道résumé（简历）的正确发音。 它和动词resume (继续) 的拼写是一样的，但是发音却不同。 就像中文的“地”和 “得”他们有不同的发音。 一些英文单词也是如此，是多音词。

Visa Officers here in Beijing have often noticed a problem that applicants have with the word for résumé. Applicants are sometimes required to provide an English copy of their résumé. However when asked for their résumé, applicants sometimes do not understand the word résumé.

One reason is that there are at least two ways to say 个人简历. One way is résumé, which is from the French language coming from the meaning of summary. A second name for 个人简历 is C.V. which is a Latin acronym from the term curriculum vitae meaning the course of one’s life.

The second problem is that many Chinese do not yet understand the correct pronunciation of the term résumé. It is spelled the same as the verb resume (继续) but is not pronounced the same. Just at the Chinese characters 地 and 得 can have different sounds associated with them, some English words are also are polyphonic.
