最高级意义的特殊表示法

 

形容词或副词的最高级意义，一般用它们的最高级形式。但有时为了表达上的需要，也可用其原级或比较级来表示。常用的几种表示方法如下：

1．never+such：

I have never seen such a beautiful picture．我从未见过这么美丽的图画。

2．as+形容词原级+as ever，或as+形容词原级+as any：

    ①He Was as clever a student as ever studied in that school．

    他是那个学校无与伦比的聪明的学生。

    ②He is as brave as any man alive．

他是世界上最勇敢的人。

3．否定词(nothing或no)+so(as)+形容词原级+as，或否定词+形容词比较级+than表示把同类中的一个人或物与其他的一切的人或物相比较。意为“再没有比……更……的了”：

①Nothing call be so important as that.

再没有比那更重要的事了。

②To my sister，nothing is more interesting than singing.

对我姐姐来说，没有比歌唱更有意义的事了。

4．将同一形容词由as连接。用于as…as…can be的结构中，表示在同一范围内的程度上的比较，含有最高级意义，即形容词达到的程度已到了极限：

①The weather is as bad as bad can be．

天气坏得不能再坏了。

②She hated the young fellow and thought he was as hateful as hateful can be.

她恨这小子，认为他可恶得不能再可恶了。

5．形容词比较级+than any other+名词。表示“比同类中的其他的都……”，有最高级的含义：

    ①He is taller than any other student in his class．

    他比班上的其他同学都高。

    ②Shanghai is bigger than any other city in China．

上海是中国最大的城市。

6．all+the+形容词或副词的比较级。它与一个从句连用。可以表示最高级含义。在表示主语所代表的人或物在某一方面所能达到的最大限度：

    That was all the bigger he can grow．

    他顶多能长这么高。

    但是当all the单独修饰比较级，或在句中没有一定的上下文提示时，只起加强语气的作用，意为“极为，愈为”，而不含最高级的意义：

    ①This is all the better for us．

    这对我们会更好。

    ②if we get help the work will get finished all the sooner．

假如我们能得到帮助，工作会更快完成。

7．某些形容词的原级、名词以及副词也可表示最高级的意义，这些词多含有“绝对性”的意义：

    bottom底，最底部    maximum最大值   minimum最小值    foremost最重要的

summit顶峰   prime开始   top最高点   extreme极端     minimize减少，最少 

at top speed以最高速      favorite最喜欢的     incomparably无比地

例句：

①He climbed the hill at top speed．

    他以最高速度爬山。

②This is the foremost opinion of the meeting．

    这是大会最重要的意见。

③These goods are sold at bottom price．

    这些商品卖的是最低价。
