　　一、连接词that

　　当陈述句充当宾语从句时，用that引导，that 无词义，常可省略。如：

　　She said that she could finish her work before Monday.

　　值得注意的是，在下列情况中，引导宾语从句的that一般不省略：

　　1. that位于句首时。如：

　　That our class will win, I believe. 

　　我相信我们班级会赢。

　　2.宾语从句前有插入语。如：

　　We hope, on the contrary, that he can play football with us. 

　　恰恰相反，我们希望他和我们一起踢足球。

　　3. that在与之并列的另一个宾语从句之后。如：

　　当一般疑问句充当宾语从句时，用if 或whether 引导，意为“是否”。如：

　　She wanted to know if/whether her brother liked the watch.

　　值得注意的是，在下列情况中，一般只能用whether：

　　1. 在具有选择意义，直接与or not 连用时，往往用whether。如：

　　Let me know whether or not the girl will come.

　　2. 在介词之后用whether。如：

　　We’re thinking about whether we can finish the homework. 

　　我们正在考虑是否能完成这项家庭作业。

　　3. 在不定式前用whether。如：

　　He hasn’t decided whether to go by plane or by train.

　　4. 置于句首时一般用whether。如：

　　Whether this is true or not, I can’t tell. 

　　我无法辨别这是否是真的。

　　5. 引导主语从句和表语从句时宜用whether。如：

　　The question is whether we can catch the bus. 

　　问题是我们能否赶上公共汽车。

　　三、疑问词作连接词

　　如果宾语从句原来是特殊疑问句，只需用原来的疑问词引导。

    这类疑问词有who, whom, whose, what, which, when, where, why, how等。如：

　　Could you tell me how to solve the problem？

　　你能告诉我如何解决这个问题吗？
