中国锁具诞生已绵延数千年，新石器时代仰韶文化遗址发现了木锁，西周出现了青铜锁，而到了东汉才发明了金属锁，并缕有龙、豹、麒麟、龟、蝴蝶等动物及昆虫造型图案，唐代则普遍使用金银铜铁等材料制锁。
