Gandalf:Pity?It is pity that stayed Bilbo's hand.Many that live deserve death.Some that die deserve life.Can you give it to them,Frodo?Do not be too eager to deal out death and judgment.Even the very wise cannot see all ends.
甘道夫：可惜？比尔博是可怜他才没杀了他。有很多活人本来就该死，也有些死人本来也命不该绝。你能做这种判断吗，弗罗多？千万别轻易断定别人的生死，就连智者都无法决定命运。

Galadriel:This task was appointed to you.And if you do not find a way,no one will.
凯兰崔尔女王：这是你的天命。如果你办不到，也没有人可以。
Frodo:Then I know what I must do.It's just...I'm afraid to do it.
弗罗多：我知道该怎么做了。只是……我感到害怕。
Galadriel:Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.

Frodo:I wish the Ring had never come to me.I wish none of this had happened.

Gandalf:So do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide.All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you.

Sam:I know.It's all wrong.By rights,we shouldn't even be here.But we are.It's like in the great stories,Mr Frodo.The ones that really mattered.Full of darkness and danger they were.And sometimes you didn't want to know the end,because how could the end be happy?How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened?But in the end,it's only a passing thing,this shadow.Even darkness must pass.A new day will come.And when the sun shines,it will shine out the clearer.Those were the stories that stayed with you that meant something.Even if you were too small to understand why.But I think,Mr Frodo,I do understand.I know now.Folk in those stories,had lots of chances of turning back,only they didin't.They kept going,because they were holding on to something.

Sam:That there's some good in this world,Mr Frodo.And it's worth fighting for.

Faramir:I think at last we understand on another,Frodo Baggins.

Subordinate:You know the laws of our country,the laws of your father.If you let them go,your life will be forfeit.

Faramir:Then it is forfeit.Release them.

Faramir:The Shire must truly be a great realm,Master Gamgee,where gardeners are held in high honor.

Sam:I wonder if we'll ever be put into songs or tales.

Frodo:What?

Sam:I wonder if people will ever say,"let's hear about Frodo and the Ring."And they'll say,"yes!That's one of my favourite stories.Frodo was relly courageous,wasn't he,Dad?""Yes,my boy.The most famousest of Hobbits.And that's saying a lot."

Frodo:Well,you've left out one of the chief characters:"Samwise the Brave."I want to hear more about Sam.Frodo wouldn't have got far without Sam.

Sam:Now,Mr.Frodo,you shouldn't make fun.I was being serious.

Subordinate:He leaves because there is no hope.
部下：他走是因为没有希望了。
Théoden:He leaves because he must.
塞奥顿：他走是因为他必须走。
Subordinate:Too few have come.We cannot defeat the armies of Mordor.
部下：人太少，我们战胜不了魔多的军队。
Théoden:No,we cannot.But we will meet them in battle nonetheless.
塞奥顿：对，我们不能，但是我们还是要战斗。

Peregrin:I didn't think it would end this way.
皮平：没想到会这样结束。
Gandalf:End?No,the journey doesn't end here.Death is just another path one that we all must take.The grey rain curtain of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass.And then you see it.

Sam:Do you remember the taste of strawberries?

Frodo:No,Sam.I can't recall the taste of food nor the sound of water nor the touch of grass.I'm...naked in the dark.There's-There's nothing.No veil between me and the wheel of fire.I can see him with my waking eyes.
