The project was set up by the Dutch (荷兰) Public Library Organization.
According to the project leader Dick Van, the library has a wide and rich collection." It includes different sides of Dutch culture. There are not only books, but also films and music." Most of the collection is in English but there is also Dutch material. "For example," Mr. Van points out, "many photo books are in both Dutch and English."
As the airport library is a place where people will pass the time and then leave on their flights, travelers are not allowed to take books, DVDs or other items away. However, they are welcome to use the "download room" for free. In the room, the new computer system enables travelers not only to watch films, but also to download them to mobile phones. "So travelers don't have to worry about not having enough time to watch the whole film, they can watch them again on the plane or when they're at home if they want to," explains Mr. Van. In addition, the Airport Library is only open to people with a ticket for a flight.
So far the library has proved popular with the travelers.
71. It took almost three years to complete the world's first airport library.
72. All of the books in the library are in both Dutch and English.
73. The library can help travelers know more about Dutch culture.
74. "Download room" offers service to lend free materials to the travelers.
75. Travelers are allowed to take DVDs and films away from the library.
76. In addition to travelers, the Dutch public can also use the library.
77. The Airport Library is well liked by the travelers.

|
However, John could not forget the picture he had in his mind of the bridge. He thought about it day and night and wanted to share it with someone who would believe in his idea. John's son Washington Roebling was a young engineer then. He believed in his father and thought that the bridge could be built.
John and Washington, working together for the first time, developed plans of how the bridge could be, built. They hired (雇佣) their workmen and began to build their dream bridge on January 3rd, 1870.
The project started well, but after a year, a terrible accident took John Roebling’s life. After that, Washington began to take charge of the bridge. However, after a few months Washington was seriously hurt, and it caused him brain damage. He was not able to walk or talk. The building of the bridge stopped. '
Everyone around him lost hope about the future of the project. "We told them so." "Crazy men and their crazy dreams." These words hurt Washington, who still lay in hospital. However, his dream was still alive. He wanted to get up and continue his work, but his poor health did not allow him to. At that time, Washington could move only one finger and this gave him an idea. He tapped (敲打) that finger on his wife Emily's arm, meaning he wanted her to call back the engineers. Then he used the same method to tell the engineers what to do.
For the next 11 years, Washington gave instructions (指示) by tapping on Emily's arm and she patiently passed on his messages to the engineers. The bridge was finally completed and opened with a big celebration in May 1883.
Today, the 5,989 feet Brooklyn Bridge stands over the East River as one of the best examples of human will and love.
