Welcome to my new blog.
Before we start, just a few words explaining things.  I have decided to put journalism on the backburner for a while in order to become a singer.
Why come to Beijing?
Because it's much easier for me to become a singer over here.  I look different, people like young foreign women who speak Chinese with a slight accent.  I can sing in English and French.  I'm an automatic stick-out among hundreds of gorgeous talented Chinese girls who can sing and dance ten times better than me.
I used to feel guilty about this advantage, but I justify myself now by saying that I spent 4 years learning the language, I might as well reap some benefits. 
And so far, it has been quite a lot of fun.  A few weeks ago, I danced and sung for a program to be broadcast on three CCTV channels prime time during the upcoming Chinese New Year.  Yesterday I hosted and performed at an eco-themed gala.  I spent lots of money (well for me it looks like lots of money) buying a mic, an external sound card, and with yesterday's hosting money, hopefully a piano keyboard.
Can I compose music? I don't know, have never tried. (or I did, when I was 12)
