【语法】

一、本单元学习某个节日在某个月份的表达方法。在月份前面应用介词in来修饰。介词in一般放在年、月、季节等比较大的时间之前，表示泛指的上午、下午、晚上也用介词in。

而在具体到某一天时则要用介词on。

如：Children’s Day is in June. 儿童节在六月。

    In spring, it is warm.  在春天，天气很温暖。

   China’s National Day is on the first of October. 中国的国庆节在十月一日。

   Mother’s Day is on the second day of May. 母亲节在五月的第二个星期天。

二、在这个单元中出现了很多节日名称，有的节日名称前用了定冠词the，有的节日名称前则没有the 。

一般来说，在由festival构成的我国传统节日名称前用the，如the Spring Festival (春节)，the Lantern Festival (元宵节)，the Dragon Boat Festival (端午节)，the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节)，the Double Ninth Festival (重阳节)，而在由day构成的节日名称前不用the，如May Day (劳动节)，Children’s Day (儿童节)，Mother's day (母亲节)，Father's Day (父亲节)，Teachers’ Day (教师节)，New Year’s Day (元旦)等。

中国的元宵节是在第一个农历月的第十五天。

[拓展] festival的意思是“节曰”， 多指民俗或宗教节曰，用作专有名词时，前面可加上the，如 the Spring Festival, the Double Ninth Festival， festival有时候还可以指音乐、戏剧、电影等汇演性的节日，如art festival, drama festival, film festival等。

[辨析]day，festival和holiday

（1）这三个单词都可以用来表达“节日”，但是它们在使用上却有很大的区别哦！ 一般来说，为特定人群设定的节日用Day，有着纪念的感情色彩，如：

Father’s Day 父亲节      Mother’s Day 母亲节   Children’s Day 儿重节

Teachers’ Day 教师节     Women’s Day 妇女节   Nurse’s Day 护士节

不用上班(上学)的日子，我们要用holiday，如：

summer holiday 暑假     winter holiday 寒假 National Day holiday 国庆节假日

festival更强调具有传统意义的节日，在这些节日里，人们会举行庆祝活动，如：

the Spring Festival 春节    the Lantern Festival 元宵节

the Qingming Festival 清明节     the Dragon Boat Festival 端午节

the Mid-Autumn Festival 中秋节     the Double Ninth Festival 重阳节

（2）表示“在”某个节日，如果后面是festival，通常用at；如果后面是day，则用on。如：

People eat rice dumplings at this festival. 人们在这个节日吃粽子。

They climb mountains at the Double Ninth Festival.  他们在重阳节爬山。

What do people do on Mother’s Day?  人们在母亲节做什么？

We have a good time on Children’s Day.  我们在儿童节玩得很开心。

2. They give their mothers presents.  他们给妈妈送礼物。

give sb. sth. 意为“送某人某物”，等同于“give sth. to sb.”

Joe always gives Jane flowers on her birthday.

= Joe always gives flowers to Jane on her birthday.  乔总是在简的生日时给她送花。

Most people give money to some charities at Christmas.

= Most people give some charities money at Christmas. 大多数人在圣诞节向慈善机构捐款。

  如：Children have a lot of fun on Children’s Day. 孩子们在儿童节晚的很开心。

    Teachers’ Day is on the September 10th. 教师节在九月十号。

6. At this festival, people get together with their families.

在这个节日，人们和他们家人聚在一起。

（1）people这个单词看作是复数，意为“人们，人民”，但意为“民族”时，则是单数，a people意为“一个民族”。

（2）family意为“家人”时，被看成是复数；意为“家庭”时，被看成是单数。如：

【语音】

本单元学习的是字母组合th的发音。字母组合th在单词中一般发/ θ/音。

    本单元生日话题涉及到日期的表达法，学生除了需要掌握月份词汇，还要掌握序数词的构成和用法。关于序数词的教学，5A unit 2已经学过first, second, third. 在本单元将引入更多的序数词。

由基数词变为序数词，下面的口诀可以帮助同学们有效记忆。

在使用序数词，需要注意以下几点：

（1）序数词在使用时，一般加上定冠词the。 如：

the first book / the second floor/ the third floor/ the fourth day

（2）序数词之前可以使用形容词性物主代词，但是不能和定冠词连用。如：

This is his first time to play football.

    He is the first student to own a computer in his town.

（3）序数词的前面可以加上不定冠词a/ an， 表示“再一”，“又一”。如：

Don’t worry, you can have a second try.

   He needs a third one.

（4）请注意编号的表示方法。如：

Lesson 1= the first lesson        Group 2= the second group     Team 3= the third team

【语言知识点】

1. It’s also Su Yang’s birthday.

also和too的意思差不多，都表示“也”。also多放在主要动词前面，或系动词be的后面，有时也可以放在其它位置。too多用于句尾。

注意：在否定句中，不能用too，需要用either。如：

  I am also a student.= I am a student, too. 我也是一名学生。

She likes running, too= She also likes running. 她也喜欢跑步。

We don’t like eating grapes, either. 我们也不喜欢吃葡萄。

2. It’s on the eleventh of May.

用序数词表示日期的时候，需要注意使用正确的介词，并需要关注日期的读法。如：

Spring Festival is in January or February. 春节在一月或者二月。(表示一段时间)

Halloween is on October 31^st. 万圣节在10月31日。（表示在某一天）

the thirty-first of October= October the thirsty-first  10月31日

the tenth of September= September the tenth  9月10日

3. We usually have a big dinner with our parents and grandparents.

我们通常和爷爷奶奶爸爸妈妈一起吃一顿大餐。

介词with用法和搭配都比较多，下面总结一下我们已经学过的三点：

（1）       和……一起，如：

I usually draw in the park with my cousin Tim. 我通常和我的堂兄在公园里画画。

Liu Tao usually plays football with his friends in the park.刘涛通常与他的朋友在公园里踢足球。

（2）       有，带着，如：

Our English teacher comes in with a book in her hand.我们英语老师带着英语书走进教室。

This is a house with a beautiful garden.这是一个有漂亮花园的房子。

（3）       使用（有形工具），如：

I eat with chopsticks.  我用筷子吃饭。

I eat with a knife and fork. 我用刀叉吃饭。

4. We have a great time. 我们玩得很开心。

have a good time= have a great time= have a wonderful time= have a lot of fun= be happy

都可以表示为“玩得开心，过得愉快”，如：

We have a good time playing games. = We have a lot of fun playing games.

5. People in the West usually open their presents as soon as they receive them.

在接受礼物时，中国人和西方人的反应截然不同。

在中国，人们接受礼物时往往并不喜形于色，且不当面打开礼品，认为这样做非常不礼貌，让人感到对所接受的礼物过分在意。 而在西方，人们在接受礼物时，想到的首先是感谢。因此，为了表示谢意，他们往往会当面小心地打开礼物，大呼小叫地称赞一番，激动时还拥抱你一下，与你同时分享快乐。

在英语中，不少单词是以o结尾的。单词以o结尾，变复数有两种变化方法，一部分加s，一部分加es。一般来说，以o结尾，表示有生命的物体加es。下面一个小口诀帮助同学们巧记这些词。

一个Negro（黑人）,

种了potato（土豆）,

喜欢tomato（番茄）,

爱吃mango（芒果）,

是个hero（英雄）。

7. That’s easy for me.那对我来说很容易了。

Sth. is easy for sb.某事对于某人来说很容易了。如：

The Maths homework is easy for me.  数学作业对我来说太简单了。

类似的结构： be bad for sb. 对某人有害    be good for sb. 对某人有益

8. Bobby has the answers. Bobby有答案了。

answer既可以作名词也可以作动词。

（1）名词       一个答案 an answer

               ……的答案 the answer to…

 （2）动词   回复，答复

      回答问题answer the question

      接电话 answer the call

9. What a play! 什么情况！

  What a play！不同的语境，意思不一样。在此cartoon time中，当Bobby看到从楼里走出一只肥猫时，让他大吃一惊，也非常失望，所以他说了句What a play！表示惊讶的意思，意为“什么情况”。

  如果我们对某人的演出表示赞许的话，也可以说What a play! 意为“多棒的演出啊！”，play在此是名词，意为“戏剧”。类似的句型有：What a pity! 真可怜！

10. They start fighting. 他们开始打了起来。

   start doing sth 意为“开始做某事”。

表示开始某一动作时，start to do与start doing所表达的意思相同。但start doing多用于表示开始一项较长时间或经常性的活动，如：

He starts playing piano. 他开始学习钢琴。

下列情况下常接不定式，不接动名词

（1）主语是无生命的事物，而不是人时。如：

 The ice starts to melt.  病开始融化了。

（2）当 start 用于进行时态时。如：

The train is starting to move. 火车开始移动了。

（3）当 start 后接表示心理状态或精神活动的动词时。如：

Mary started to guess what is in the bag. 玛丽开始猜包里有什么东西了。

发音方式：/ð/ 舌尖轻抵上齿，再送出气流，但须振动声带，并使舌齿互相摩擦。
