今年获奖者是让·梯若尔，FT的标题是“French academic recognised for his work on taming oligopolies”，委员会表示 “penetrated deep into the most central issues of oligopolies and asymetric information, but he has also managed to bring together his own and other’s results into a coherent framework for teaching, practical application, and continued research”。其研究领域是博弈论、产业组织等，53年出生，法国人，先获得数学博士再获经济学博士，来过中国。当然也被认为是天才的经济学家，论文巨多，但获奖还是有点意外，我没注意道今年有人在热门候选中谈到他。
