A bad-tempered lion was sleeping under a tree one afternoon.He woke up suddenly when a mouse ran over his face.The lion was very angry because he was in the middle of a wonderful dream.

"How dare you wake me up?"the lion shouted at the mouse."I'm going to eat you!"

The mouse was very frightened."Please,Mr lion,don't eat me,"the mouse said."If lyou let me go,I promise that someday I will help you."The lion laughed at the idea of a little mouse helping him.But he agreed to let the mouse go.

A few weeks later,the lion was caught by some hunters,who were going to sell him to the zoo for a lot of money.They tied the lion up with a rope and went off to get their truck.

The mouse heard the lion's roar and followed the noise until he found the lion.The lion was very happy to see the mouse and was even happier when the mouse offered to help him.

The mouse chewed the rope until it broke,and the lion was set free."Thank you so much for helping me,little mouse,"the lion said."You've saved my life."

The mouse smiled and replied,"You laughed at me when I said I would help you someday.Now you know that even a tiny mouse can help a big strong lion."
