在乐爸生日来临之前,我决定学习做生日蛋糕。因为下面两三个月里,家里其它四个人都要过生日。美国人做的蛋糕,一般是一半面一半糖的比例,蛋糕上面的装饰几乎全是糖,吃一口还行,全吃了有点受罪。中国店的生日蛋糕好吃,我一个人能吃掉一大个,可是怀疑反式脂肪很多。研究了半个小时,我决定做戚风蛋糕。周日上午购买了材料,中午做好,放在冰箱里冷藏一下,然后晚上吹蜡烛,吃蛋糕。蛋糕样子有点丑,贴在这里做个纪念吧,下次争取把字写得好看一些。至于味道,姥姥姥爷不爱吃甜点心,乐爸说挺好吃,乐乐只吃最甜的部分,我嘴疼,勉强吃了一点,我叹了口气,觉得自己再努力也就是个二流厨师。方子参考下面的 (糖的用量减掉一大半)。

Ingredients
1/2
cup baking cocoa
3/4 cup boiling water
1 3/4 cups cake flour
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
7 eggs, separated
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
ICING:
1/3 cup
butter or margarine
2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 tablespoons hot water
Chopped nuts
Directions
In a bowl,
combine cocoa and water until smooth; cool for 20 minutes. In a
mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Add oil,
egg yolks, vanilla and cocoa mixture; beat until smooth. In another
mixing bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff peaks
form; gradually fold into egg yolk mixture. Pour into an ungreased
10-in. tube pan. Bake on lowest rack at 325 degrees F for 60-65
minutes or until cake springs back when touched. Invert pan to
cool; remove cake from pan.
For icing, melt butter in medium saucepan. Remove from heat; stir
in sugar, chocolate and vanilla. Stir in enough water until desired
consistency; drizzle over cake. Sprinkle with nuts.
