yes? no ? yes?”

Social/Emotional
Ella is
an expressive toddler at age 2 years and 8
months. She has moved from parallel play to
associative play and also engages in cooperative play such as “Ring
Around the Rosey” and joins in many familiar nursery rhymes and
songs such as “Tingalayo” and “My Car Goes Beep…” She also
expresses her ownership through verbal scolding.
For instance, “I don’t like that” in replace of physical
communication. Ella had limited falling on the
floor and getting upset with her peers.
Gross Motor
Ella hops
with two feet multiple times and walks around the wooden beam with
full balance. Ella walks backwards when asked
too. She has also started to ride on a tricycle
and has begun pedaling steadily around the yard.
Ella likes to push the mega trucks across the room and yard, as
well as climbing on the step-stools to watch the trains go by from
the window.
Fine Motor
Ella is
able to build a tower of 9 small wooden cubes, make a train of
cubes and build a bridge using 3 cubes. She can
construct buildings with duplos, string a necklace of picture beads
with some assistance and place pumpkin head pegs into a peg
board. When using writing utensils, or paint
brush she is more dominant in her right hand.
Cognitive
Ella
understands differences in sizes “big” and
“small”. She names 7 or more body parts, sorts
and places colored objects in the correct place (example: colored
bears), identifies familiar items and objects and follows three
part directions. She loves “reading” books in the
library area and she shows an enthusiasm for learning and
discovery.
Language (receptive and
Expressive)
Ella has
increased her vocabulary in the area of language and communication.
She now expresses her wants and needs without any hesitation. Ella
completes full sentences and her articulation of words is almost
perfect. The teachers understand when she wants
or needs a specific item. She enjoys spending time in our library
area reading books. She also
enjoys listening to stories and answering open-ended questions when
asked by staff. Ella only uses the English
language in the classroom.
Self-Help
Ella is
very independent; she takes great pride in accomplishing things for
herself and helping others. She loves to assist
in “classroom jobs”. During meals, Ella uses her
utensils, throws out waste and washes her hands at the
sink. She removes and puts on clothing/shoes with
little assistance. Ella has begun to show
interest in toileting and is now eager to sit on the
potty. She will sometimes use it, but staff still
praise her for trying.
Room for growth
I. Peer

and staff will provide a variety of fine motor activities: building
toys, puzzles, stringing beads, markers, model magic, paints, play
