due to   用于较庄重的书面语中，多作表语，表示造成的原因，与 owing to 用法相

   同。due to 也可用作状语，只引出造成不好结果的原因。

   1）His success was largely due to luck.

  2）The accident was due to a fault in the signal mechanism of the highway.

thanks to 带有含“多亏”意味，多用于表示产生好的结果的原因。

   1）Thanks to the generous donation from the public, the victims in the flooded  

      areas came through the natural disaster.

     2）Thanks to his presence of mind, all the passengers on board were resued

on account of   与 because of 同义，但语气较为正式。多用作状语，偶尔用作表语，短

    语 owing to 或 due to 的用法。

    1）The flight was cancelled on account of bad weather.

          2）He invited her to dinner, but she declined on account of urgent business.

on the ground of  侧重指“以……为理由”“以……为借口”，从语气上更强调

   原因。常用on the ground of， 冠词the 有时省略，还可说 on grounds of 。

   1）He was obliged to retire at early fifty on the ground of his failing health.

     in view of  侧重指“鉴于（由于）出现某种情况，因而 …… ”，“考虑到某种情   况……。因此……”。

   1) In view of your departure tomorrow, can you spare me a few moments to talk

      over the problem?

by reason of  用法与 on (the) ground of相似，强调原因。

    1）The arrangement was cancelled by reason of his illness.

by virtue of   侧重指“凭靠”，“凭借”的意思，也可表示“由于”原因， 有时也说

    in virtue of 。

    1）The player defeated his rivals by virtue of greater experience.

as a result of  侧重指“由于······的结果”而产生，表示原因的意味较

   重，主句谓语动词的产生是“由于······的结果”。

    1）However, as a result of the heavy demand for organs, a new moral dilemma has

       emerged.
