1、化三煞

三煞是按流年的所属而排在不同的方位。解三煞必须用三只麒麟(开光的最好)，放在三煞的位置便可，头要向三煞方。

2、化直冲煞

如门前见长廊直冲大门，犯了穿心煞可用一对麒麟挡之，如果煞气弱,走廊不太长，可用一对麒麟来挡煞，但如果煞气强，走廊又长又直的话，就必用三只麒麟来挡煞。

3、化白虎煞

在家居的白虎方位，安放一对麒麟，可化解白虎方的凶性，令宅内居住的人平安，尤其是白虎方外面的烟囱或尖锐之物冲射到，更加要安放已开光的麒麟。

4、化电梯楼梯煞

随着高层建筑不断的增多，选择房屋时需要注意电梯的位置，假如在自己住房的右手边有电梯的话，那就容易犯煞，而如果电梯正好是在西方的话，那就是需要化解为好，化解方法：在这方位摆放一对麒麟。

5、镇宅辟邪

麒麟是吉祥的代表，安放在家中，有镇宅辟邪，增添家中吉祥的作用，可将家运转好、灾祸减轻，铜麒麟还能替主人挡去滞运的霉气。

6、催财升官

麒麟非常适合工作性质稳定的人，特别适合在政府机关、公检法、行政机关工作的公职人员使用。催官时候放在驿马方，是最强的催贵升官的物品。

7、招子送子

在风水学中，麒麟还有旺后代的作用，因此民间自古便有“麒麟送子”之说。
