                 不可数名词转化为可数名词的情形

虽然名词有可数与不可数之分，然而语言是丰富多彩的，一个名词在具体的语言环境当中会使用不同的形式，不可数名词有时也能转化为可数名词。所以，如果生搬硬套语法法则，就会很容易出错。

请看下面这道经典高考题：

Jumping out of _____airplane at ten thousand feet is quite____ exciting experience.

A. 不填；the       B.不填；an        C. an; an         D. the; the

该题考生如果死记experience为不可数名词就会误选A或D项。实际上，此题中experience前加上exciting修饰，含义具体化为：“一个……的经历”、“一件……的事情”，正确答案应为C。另一道高考题也同样考查了这个知识(下划线为正确选项)：

Many people agree that____ knowledge of English is a must in _____international trade today.

 A. a; /        B. the; an         C. the; the         D. /; the

可见，名词这个用法是一个重要考点，所以本人特将一些不可数名词转化为可数名词的情形加以分类概述，以期对大家有所启示和帮助。下面所选例句均来自于教材。

一、在词组或短语当中，一个抽象的不可数名词往往会变为一个可数名词。

1，First I heard a noise.    (一阵噪音。)

2, It also keeps a record of the date on which they will travel.  （一个记录）

3, We will meet tomorrow and   make a decision then.        (一个决定)

4, What a delicious supper!       (一顿丰盛的晚餐)

5, The hurricane last night had been a great surprise.   (一件让人大为惊讶的事情)

6， They telephone the people and  fix a time  for a face-to-face interview .  (一个时间)

7, There is a talk on cancer that might be quite interesting.    ( 一次谈话)

二、通过加量词的方法，使一个不可数名词转化为可数名词。例如；

1，Would you like  another piece of  bean curd ? (你还需要一块豆腐吗？)

2, Talk about a visit to a place of interest.        (谈论一次参观名胜。)

三、抽象的不可数名词具体化，含义发生了变化，表示一个或多个“……的人或事物”，这种表达法使语言显得更加简洁生动。例如：

1, There would have been many more   deaths.            ( 死亡的人）

2， Here are some advice for dealing with common  injuries .   (受伤的地方、伤口）

3, The concert that John Denver organized was a great success.（成功的事）

四、一些不可数名词变复数，含义有所变化，强调种类多，表示数量的增加、扩大。通常可以译作：“各种不同的……”或不译。例如：

1, Song writers are no longer writing about the modern   values of the USA.     (各种价值观)

2，New businesses will be started in the city.     ( businesses:各种商业。）

3， History is full of other examples of successful people with  disabilities.     (各种不同的残疾）

4,Many students want to know about the differences between American English and British English.     (各种不同之处)

5，Take turns to offer each other the foods in part 2.     (各种不同的食物。)

6， Thoughts  rushed through his head .     (各种想法)

7， He began the research and  studies which led to his new discoveries  in physics .   (各种各样的学习和发现)

8, China  Daily has plenty of advertisements, which help to cut the costs of making the newspaper.     (各种成本)

五、抽象不可数名词变复数，强调数量大。例如：

1, a world full of wars and killings.     (充满战争和杀戮的世界)

2,There were a lot of fires all over the city.      (到处是火灾)

3, Please give my regards to your parents. Best wishes.    (满是祝福和期望)

4, It was easy for them to carry a guitar on their travels .      (各种旅行)

六、抽象不可数名词变复数，表示一定的范围或程度。

1, The hurricane crossed the southeast corner of England with winds of up to 160 Kph. (阵风)

2， The waters  of this great  lake have been dirtied by waste from a chemical factory .   (专指某条江河湖海的水，此处指贝加尔湖中的水。)

3, They believed that the best things in life were free: sunshine, laughing, walks in the beauty of the country.      (漫步)

七、需要特别说明的是，并非所有的不可数名词都能具体化。高中阶段常见的总是不可数的名词有6个：news, information, advice, weather, fun,furniture。

 另外，总是以复数形式出现的名词有：repairs, preparations, wishes, regards, goods, clothes, politics, congratulations, sports, tears, works(工厂、著作)，thanks, means， manners等等，需要同学们记住。
