Steps for How to Live a Simple Life of Contentment

 

Decide what is important 确定什么是重要的

Make a short list of 4-5 things for your life, 4-5 people you want to spend time with, 4-5 things you’d like to accomplish at work.

列一个清单,包括你生活中最重要的4-5件事情,你想花时间在他们身上的4-5个人,以及在工作中你想要完成的4-5件事情。

 

Examine your commitments 检查你的承诺

Our lives are way too full. Accept that you can’t do everything, do what’s important to you, and try to eliminate the commitments that aren’t as important.

我们的生活要求太多。接受这样的事实,你不可能什么都做,只能选对你重要的事情做,并删除那些对你不那么重要的许诺。

 

Do less each day 每天少做一点

Don’t fill your day up with things to do. 不要把每天要做的事情安排得满满的。

 

Leave space between tasks or appointments 在任务或日程上给自己一点空间

Do not try to schedule things back-to-back. Leave a good-sized gap between your appointments or tasks, allowing you to focus more on each one, and have a transition time between them.

不要把日程安排得一个挨一个,在每个安排或工作之间留一点时间,这让你能够专注于每个活动,之间有个过渡。

 

Eliminate as much as possible from your to-do list 从要做的事情中尽可能删除不必要的事

You can’t do everything on your to-do list. Even if you could, more things will come up. Simplify your to-do list down to the essentials.

你不可能做清单中的每件事,即使你能够做到,还会有更多的事情等着你。把清单简化到那些最基本的事情。

 

Slow down and enjoy every task 放慢节奏,享受每个工作

Whatever you’re doing, slow down. Try to enjoy whatever you’re doing. Try to pay attention, instead of thinking about other things. Be in the moment.

无论你做什么,慢慢来。尽力去享受所做的每一件事,尽量集中注意力,而不是边做事边想其它事。活在当下。

 

Eat slowly 饭要慢慢吃

 

Drive more slowly 车更要慢慢开

Slow down and enjoy the journey. 慢慢驾车,享受旅途的风景。

 

Single-task 事情要一项一项做

Do one thing at a time, and do it well 每次做一件事,把事情做好。

 

Create time for solitude 抽出时间独处

It’s also important to just have some time to yourself.

给你自己留一些时间也很重要。

 

Do nothing 什么都不做

Sometimes, it’s good to forget about doing things, and do nothing.

有时候,忘记工作,什么都不做也很好。

 

Sprinkle simple pleasures throughout your day 让你的日子充满简单的快乐

 

Practice being present 练习冥想

The key methods of being present include paying attention instead of daydreaming, observing what is going on around you, breathing attentively and meditating.

冥想的关键方法包括集中精力而不是白日做梦,观察你周围发生的事情,专注自己的呼吸,冥想。

 

Live in the Moment 活在当下

Try enjoying life right now. 试着享受目前的生活。

 

Don't let technology take over your life. Make boundaries for emails, IM, facebook, twitter, texting, and cell phone usage. It will cut down on the feeling of chaos in your daily life.

不要让技术接管了你的生活。适当限制电子邮件,短信,facebook,推特,Texting和手机的使用,从而减少日常生活的忙乱。
