【问】　the sunny skies of Italy 
　　　　天空只有一个,怎么会有skies的复数形式呢? 
【答】　sky一般被看作是不可数名词,用作单数,如: 
　　　　1.Can you see those birds high up in the sky.　你能看见那些天空的鸟吗?
　　　　2.There were little white clouds high in the blue sky ...　在高高的蓝天上有些小片的白云…… 
　　　　但是,当把sky部分化时(如说伦敦的天空时),或者受形容词修饰时,或者涉及到天气时,就可以使用skies。例如: 
　　　　1.The night skies of London flare with rockets.　烟火在伦敦的夜空中辉闪。 
　　　　2.a day of rain and cloudy skies　有雨多云的一天 
　　　　3.It was a sunny Sunday, with cloudless blue skies and a pleasantly refreshing breeze.　这是个晴朗的星期日。蓝天无云,吹着令人愉快的清新微风。
