How to Break the Ice? (Ⅱ)

    Last time we talked about some places we can start a conversation with foreigners. Next we are going to say something about some embarrassing issues.

   上次的研讨会上我们谈论了可以和“老外”攀谈的合适地点。这次我们来说说和“老外”攀谈的禁忌。

1. Don’t start by asking personal or private questions.

e.g. How old are you?

     Are you married?

 How much do you earn?

不要问太多过于个人隐私，如年龄，婚否，工资等。

2. It’s better not to ask some obviously stupid questions.

e.g. How long have you been in China?

 Do you like China?

不要问那些很愚蠢的问题, 如你来中国多久了，你喜欢中国吗？等。

3. Don’t stand over foreigners’shoulders while you are talking. It’s annoying in the West to look over their shoulders. Because it’s kind of nosy or invading privacy.

    和“老外”说话的时候不要站在他们后面，也不要从他们肩膀往前看。这会让他们觉得你在窥探他们的隐私。
