大英帝国咽喉：直布罗陀1850-90年间

1704年英格兰占领位于伊比利亚半岛南部的直布罗陀，成为英国海外领土。
1830年，直布罗陀被正式宣布为英国殖民地。1869年苏伊士运河开通后，其重要性进一步提高，大英帝国凭借这块岩石可以完全控制地中海的航运。
