尼尔斯·奥尔森Repp于1856年出生于挪威松达尔镇一个农场，并于1882年移民到美国，他在明尼苏达州开始了一名摄影师的职业生涯，在19世纪90年代回到他的家乡，作为一个摄影师，他拍摄了的同胞在高山，峡湾和冰川的生活状态。
