Werner Bischof于1916年出生于瑞士苏黎世。他毕业于当地的工艺美术学，接受了作为摄影师的专业教育校。毕业后，他开了一家小型摄影工作室，但很快决定实现一个旧梦，去征服巴黎。这个梦想被第二次世界大战摧毁了。沃纳必须回到他的家乡。在这里，他逐渐从风景摄影转向纪实摄影。在战争结束时，摄影师在欧洲旅行，拍摄被摧毁的世界使他出名。这个瑞士人继续走遍世界，接受许多杂志的订单。Werner Bischoff在几乎经过环球旅行后，38岁的他在秘鲁坠机事故中不幸身亡。
