庞贝古城始建于公元前，毁于公元79年维苏威火山大爆发，庞贝被火山灰掩埋，当时的人和物变成瞬间的永恒，直到1748年被发掘。正因为此，整个古城街道房屋能保持的如此完整。太阳神庙、斗兽场、大剧院、蒸气浴室、各种供人消遣的娱乐场、分类明确的商铺、带喷泉的庭院。墙上的壁画清晰可见。
