萨拉热窝是波斯尼亚和黑塞哥维那的首都。这座城市被5座山脉围绕着，有趣且风景如画。他在二十世纪的名字经常提到。1914年6月28日，奥地利王位继承人弗朗茨·费迪南德在这里被杀害，这是第一次世界大战爆发的原因。1984年，萨拉热窝举办了第14届冬季奥运会。
1992年3月，共和国议会宣布退出南斯拉夫联邦，4月6日，波斯尼亚的独立得到了欧盟各国的承认。针对分裂主义者的行动，波斯尼亚塞族人开始围攻该城市，历时3.5年，夺去11,000人的生命。
