Yakov Il'ich Ryumkin从20世纪30年代初开始就是一位摄影记者。他曾在哈尔科夫报纸Vechernee Radio，战争开始以来 - 西南战线上的报纸“真理报”的照片记者。他拍摄了斯大林格勒的防线，解放了乌克兰，摩尔多瓦，罗马尼亚，匈牙利，波兰，夺取了柏林。
