5月24日9时刚过，第3航空团双引擎轰炸机三菱Ki.21行起飞，从日本九州岛往冲绳低空飞。

短短几分钟十几个突击队员成功地摧毁燃料和润滑航空燃料油2600桶、七架飞机。还有另外两架运输机也设法到达冲绳，但被击落。
1945年5月24日突击队袭击后，冲绳岛永滩空军基地被严重破坏。
