荔园读书感悟：We can’t help having good or bad in the life. Sometimes there are ample sorrow and happiness, sometimes sufficient joy and pain., What should we do to the bad events? Plant “a trouble tree” to hang them up just like what you may find in the following story:  ：“A trouble tree” ---a port of call .     

      生活中有好有坏。或大悲大喜，或快乐痛苦。该怎样面对麻烦呢？种一棵“烦恼树”，把烦恼挂在上面，就如下面故事里告诉我们的那样:“烦恼树”--- 一个可以停靠喘息的港湾。                  

                      （三）The Trouble Tree 烦恼树

            The carpenter I hired to help restore an old farmhouse had just finished a rough first day on the job .a flat tire made him lose an hour of work .his electric saw quit and now his ancient pick up truck refused to start. while I drove him home .he sat in stony silence.

     我请了一个木匠帮我修整一栋楼舍。他来工作的第一天简直糟糕透顶。一个瘪了的轮胎他居然花了一个小时才补好。接着他的电锯也坏了。而现在他的老爷皮卡车也发动不起来了。当我开车送她回家时，他坐在车里像块石头一样一言不发。

          On arriving, he invited me to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door ,he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

     到了他家，他便要请我进去坐坐。当我们走到门口时，他在一棵小树前停下，深处双核搜出摸了一下熟知的末梢。

      After opening the door, he underwent an amazing transformation. He tanned face was wreathed in smiles. and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss .Afterward he walked me back to my car .We passed the tree .and my curiosity got the better of me ,I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

      进门后，他像换了个人似的，嗮黑的脸上到处绽放着笑容。他抱了抱两个孩子，又吻了吻他的太太。然后他送我出门，我们走过那棵小树。我的好奇心占了上风，便忍不住问他为什么要摸那棵树。

     "Oh ,that's my trouble tree ?he replied "I know I can't help having troubles on the job ,but one thing for sure ,troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and children ,so I just hung them up to the tree .Every night when I came home ,then in morning I pick them up again .

   “噢，那是我的烦恼树，” 他回答：“我知道，自己在工作时会不可避免地遇到麻烦，但有一点是肯定的，烦恼不能带进这座妻子和孩子们所在的房子，所以每天晚上我回家前都把它们挂在这棵树上，到了早晨，再把它们摘下来。” 

          "Funny thing is ",he smiled : "when I came out in the morning to pick up .there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before .

    “有趣的是，”他笑了起来：“当我早晨去摘他们的时候，烦恼已经没有我前一天晚上挂上去的那么多了”。   （ 2009年8月8日清晨 ）    

                       (二） The Secret of life  生命的秘密

         As the Lord God was creating the world he called upon his archangels. The Lord asked  his archangels to help him decide where to put the Secret of Life.

         "Bury it in the ground ." one angel replied.

         "Put it on the bottom of the sea," said another.

         "Hide it in the mountains," another suggested.

         The Lord replied, "If I see to do any of those , only a few will find the Secret of Life. The Secret of Life must be accessible to EVERY-ONE!"

       One angel replied, "I know: put it in each man's heart. Nobody will think to look there."

       "Yes!" said the Lord. "Within each one's heart."

       And so it was----The SECRET OF LIFE lies within all of us.

                   The Secret of life  生命的秘密

       上帝创造世界的时候找来了他的天使长们，请他们帮助决定应该把生命的秘密放在哪里。

    “把他们埋在地下。”一个天使答道。

    “把他们放到海底。”另一个说道。

    “把它藏在山里.” 又一个天使建议。

     上帝回答说：“如果我照你们说的方法去做的话，那么这个世界上只有一小部分人能找到它。而我希望每个人都有可能找到生命的秘密！”

     一个天使答道：“我知道了，把它放在每个人的心里。没有哪个人会想到它被放在那儿。”

     “对啊”！上帝非常赞同，“放在每个人的心里."

      于是真的------生命的秘密就在我们每个人的心里。

                 ( 一 )  Love and Time 爱和时间         

       Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.
          Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
          Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,
         "Richness, can you take me with you?"
          Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."
         Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"
        "I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.
         Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."
        "Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"
         Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.
       Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder,
        Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"
      "It was Time," Knowledge answered.
      "Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"
       Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."  

                           Love and Time 爱和时间 

      从前有一个岛，所有的情感都住在那里：幸福、悲伤、知识和所有其它的，爱也不例外。一天，所有的情感听说小岛即将沉没，因此建造小船，纷纷离开，除了爱。
    爱是唯一留下来的，因为它希望能坚持到最后一刻。
    小岛即将沉没了，爱决定请求帮助。
    富有驾着一艘大船从爱身边经过，爱说， 
   “富有，你能带上我么？”
   富有回答说：“不行，我的船上载满金银财宝，没有你的地方。”
   虚荣坐在漂亮的小船中从爱身边驶过，爱问：“虚荣，你能帮助我么？”
   虚荣说：“不行，你全身湿透，会弄脏我的船。”
   悲伤的船靠近了，爱问：“悲伤，请带我走吧。”
  “哦。。。爱，我太难过了，想一个人呆着。”
   幸福经过爱的身边，它太开心了，根本没听见爱在呼唤。
   突然，一个声音喊道：“来，爱，我带你走。” 声音来自“年老”。爱太高兴了，甚至忘了问他们即将去何方。当他们来到岸上，年老自己离开了。爱突然意识到“年老”给了它多大的帮助。
   于是，爱问另一位老者--知识：“谁帮助了我？”
   知识说：“是时间。”
  “时间？”爱问：“但是时间为什么帮助我？”
   知识睿智地微笑道：“因为只有时间了解爱的价值。”
