There are divided views as to whether the government should spend money on medical care and education or on theatres and sport stadiums. In my opinion, the government can spend on both of them if it budgets well.

There are good reasons why money should be spent on medical care and education, for they bring tangible, immediate benefits to the people. The better equipped the hospitals are, the better services they can provide to the patients, resulting in raised living standard for people on the whole. As for education, it is universally acknowledged that education is the gateway to a better life, for it enables people to move upward socially by training them and offering them more career opportunities. If the government provides funding to the education, especially the elementary education and the vocational training, more people will benefit, leading to improved productivity and greater satisfaction with life on the part of a greater majority of people.

As far as sports stadium and theatres are concerned, they are also part of modern life. They are a vital part of our recreational activity, if not an integral part. The theatres play a vital role in enriching our cultural life by nurturing our taste for beauty, whereas the sports stadium gives us the platform to appreciate the athletic beauty on the track.

To sum up, I believe that both of them are important to us, if we are to have a high living standard. So it is advisable that the government plans well to meet both needs when possible.
